Committed to a Greener Tomorrow
Saku Metall Group’s sustainability strategy is structured around the three ESG pillars: environmental, social and governance. It considers both the impact of these areas on Saku Metall and the impact of our operations on the environment and society around us.
Reducing our negative environmental impact and continuously improving our sustainability performance are key priorities for Saku Metall. We also place strong emphasis on increasing our positive environmental and social impact.
Environmental Impact
-
Reduce Scope 1 and 2 CO₂ emissions by 50%
by 2030, compared to the 2021 baseline
-
Reduce energy use per unit of production by 15%
by 2030, compared to the 2021 baseline
-
Improve material efficiency by 7%
by 2030, compared to the 2021 baseline
Saku Metall’s primary raw material is steel, which is fully recyclable. Steel production still has a relatively high environmental impact, and large-scale availability of “green” steel is expected to take several more years. A life cycle assessment carried out for Saku Metall Uksetehas steel doors showed that emissions from steel production can account for more than 50% of the product’s total life cycle CO₂ emissions.
For this reason, Saku Metall focuses on extending product lifecycles, thereby reducing the need to manufacture new products. Another priority is the efficient use of raw materials and the reuse of production waste both within the company and externally.
Our environmental priorities are divided into three categories:
- Environmental impact and CO₂ footprint
- Resource use and waste
- Product composition and lifecycle
Each category includes more detailed focus areas, strategic actions, targets, and measurable indicators.
CO₂ Footprint Calculator for
Door Factory Products
*A1–A3 GWP – total refers to the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions generated during the manufacturing of the product (Global Warming Potential). This includes emissions from the production and transport of raw materials, as well as emissions generated during manufacturing at Saku Metall Uksetehas. The calculations are based on EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) data.

Governance
Saku Metall places great importance on honest, transparent and responsible governance, as well as accurate financial reporting. This applies both to day-to-day operational management and at the supervisory board level.
Saku Metall has established a Code of Ethics based on four core values: honesty, professionalism, openness and innovation. The Code of Ethics provides a framework for how Saku Metall operates and sets clear expectations for employee conduct.
A company’s actions are often reflected in the actions of its leaders. For this reason, we place strong emphasis on leadership development and on making ethical and responsible decisions. At the same time, building a strong organisational culture is the responsibility of all employees, not only managers. Employees receive regular training in line with the company’s training plan, including training on the Code of Ethics. We believe that one of the most important aspects of leadership is setting a good example, and we encourage both managers and employees to lead by example in their everyday work. This helps maintain a positive working environment.
Saku Metall has also established a risk management process under which risks are identified and assessed at least once a year, while the most significant risks are reviewed quarterly. In addition, the company has implemented certified quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Our governance priorities are divided into two main areas:
- Corporate governance
- Risk management
