Saku Metall Door Factory’s steel doors are covered by EPD environmental declaration

Saku Metall Uksetehas was the first metal door manufacturer in Estonia to receive an international Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its products, already in 2022. This marked an important milestone in our journey towards more sustainable manufacturing and enabled us to offer our customers even more environmentally responsible solutions.

An EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is an independently verified and standardised document based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). It covers the product’s entire life cycle, from raw material extraction and manufacturing to dismantling and recycling at the end of its service life.

Unlike many companies that outsource the preparation of an EPD, we developed both the declaration and the underlying assessment in-house. This approach gave us deeper insight into the environmental impact of our products and manufacturing processes and helped us identify where the greatest reductions can be achieved — particularly during the design phase.

Why is an EPD important?

An Environmental Product Declaration helps customers and partners make more informed decisions and supports the achievement of sustainability goals. At the same time, it provides us with valuable input for continuous product development and the improvement of our manufacturing processes.

Environmental requirements are becoming increasingly stringent over time. For us, environmental responsibility and sustainable business practices are therefore just as important as remaining competitive.
