300 km/h: Saku Metall assemblies in Mecca–Medina high-speed trains
Saku Metall Subcontracting had the opportunity to contribute to a major international project in cooperation with leading companies in the rail industry. In 2017, we manufactured air-conditioning frames and brake system frames for new high-speed trains that still carry thousands of passengers every day on the Mecca–Medina route in Saudi Arabia. These trains are among the fastest in the world, reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h.
AS Saku Metall Allhanke Tehas holds two important international certifications for sheet metal welding. Our welding quality system complies with the requirements of EVS-EN ISO 3834-2:2005 and EN 15085, certification level CL1. These certifications enable us to participate in demanding international projects and compete in the global rail industry.
ISO 3834 defines quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials and gives our customers confidence that all relevant quality requirements are consistently followed throughout the welding process. Part 2 of the standard represents comprehensive quality requirements.
EN 15085 sets out the criteria for the manufacture, repair and maintenance of railway vehicles and their components, with welding treated as a special process within these activities. CL1 represents the highest level of welding quality assurance. It confirms that the manufacturer meets strict requirements regarding personnel qualifications, welding procedures, equipment, materials, inspection and documentation. Companies certified to CL1 level are qualified to carry out welding work to the highest standards of safety and reliability.
Saku Metall Allhanke Tehas serves rail industry customers in countries including Spain, Germany, Austria and the United Kingdom.
